TOWER BRIDGE

What is it? 
It’s a bridge whose crossing the River Thames, and it also is a drawbridge and it rises when the big boats need to pass. Along 346 Km of the river there are many more bridges but the Tower Bridge is the most famous.

 Who built it?
Over 50 designs were submitted for consideration, some of which are on display at Tower Bridge Exhibition. It wasn't until October 1884 however, that Horace Jones, the City Architect, in collaboration with John Wolfe Barry, offered the chosen design for Tower Bridge as a solution. For built the bridge it took 432 constructions workers.

 When it was built?
The bridge was building for eight years. From 1886 to1894

Where is it?
 Tower Bridge is near to the Tower of London, from there comes its name.

Why was it building?
The bridge was building when the east of London became extremely crowded and they felt that a bridge was needed in that area of the city so that people could cross more easily from one side to another.
